The PC software Baumer Sensor Suite (BSS) is one of the best innovations of the year for the smart factory. This is the result of the online voting for the Industrie 4.0 Innovation Award of the VDE publishing house. The ten best Industry 4.0 innovations were selected by a jury of experts. The users voted the BSS into third place among the new products that make an important contribution to smart manufacturing.
Innovative software solution to exploit the full potential of IO-Link
The Industrie 4.0 Innovation Award recognises products and innovations that "make a profitable or supportive contribution in connection with Industry 4.0". An important criterion here is that the product promotes integration by supporting manufacturer-independent standards. This is one of the strengths of BSS: it enables the use of IO-Link devices across manufacturers. This makes the software an innovative tool for exploiting the full potential of IO-Link devices for smart manufacturing. The BSS is based on a future-proof software architecture and uses elements of the Microsoft Azure Cloud. Thanks to cloud connectivity, users have access to the latest software version and functions at all times.
Intuitive visualisation of sensor functions
The BSS is a PC software for the evaluation, selection and parameterisation of IO-Link devices. Application developers can use it to implement IO-Link devices more efficiently – especially thanks to an intuitive visualisation of the sensor functions. Almost 2000 users are already taking advantage of the free BSS. "We are very pleased that the BSS convinces so many users. Not only in everyday work, but even in the voting for the Industrie 4.0 Innovation Award. The Industrie 4.0 Innovation Award will be presented for the seventh time in 2022 by VDE Verlag GmbH together with ZVEI and Standardization Council Industrie 4.0. The award ceremony will take place in December 2022.
